Retention of Experienced Staff: A personal review framework
The framework is designed for personal use by all healthcare professionals which ever sector they work in. It was developed initially in response to the high loss of experienced senior nurses in the NHS particularly as result of organisational change such as mergers or reconfigurations of services. It was recognised quite early on that these changes affected a wide range of senior people from different professional backgrounds.
The Nurse Directors Association, the Royal College of Nursing and NHS Employers worked together to produce the Framework as a self help tool involving HR Professionals, Nurses , Doctors and allied Health professionals in its development. It provides guidance to help individuals through the difficult task of facing what may happen if at risk from redundancy, and assists in decision making to find suitable alternatives. Work on the Framework was led by Sheila Marriot, an Independent health advisor and member of NDA supported by Liz Fradd who is a member of NDA Council.
